Bath
Just twenty five minutes from The Talbot is the beautiful Georgian city of Bath. Famed for its Roman Baths and historic Architecture, Bath is the largest city in the county. Explore independent shops and restaurants. You can also bathe in the Thermae Bath Spa - the only natural thermal hot springs in Britain. Whilst visiting the city you can also enjoy a glass or two at the Beckford Bottle Shop, our sister Wine Shop and Bistro, we’ll make sure there’s something waiting behind the bar for you.
Frome
Frome is a town with a charming historic centre and has a wealth of architectural interest alongside a thriving contemporary and performing arts scene. Frome is also the original Somerset Market Town with plenty of independent shops. There is a market that takes place on the first Sunday of each month that is not to be missed.

Country Pursuits
Being at the heart of the British countryside allows you to live like a local with plenty of outdoor pursuits to keep you entertained. Visit Marston Park, a rural retreat set around a Victorian lake and ancient woodland. Located between the market town of Frome and fashionable Bruton, the park is just six miles from the pub and a must for all in the area.
Art
Somerset is lucky enough to have some great Art Galleries. From Hauser and Wirth in nearby Bruton for contemporary art to the classic collections in both The Victoria Gallery and Holburne Museum in Bath. For something a little different, Portfolio Art Tours work with individuals and small groups to arrange tailored art visits here in the South West.
History
For those with an interest in historic places and landmarks, there are plenty of local trips. The pub itself, in the village of historic Mells, has been welcoming travellers since the 15th Century when it was built as a rest stop for coaches running the London to Wells road. The nearby city of Bath offers the chance to experience its Roman past and Georgian architecture.
